We utilize Optomap Retinal Imaging units in both our offices.   Opotos has just introduced the latest in retinal scanning the "Daytona."  This is a revolutionary diagnostic tool that provides an ultra-widefield retinal scan which allows clinicians to view the majority of the entire retina without the need for dilating drops.  This high resolution image captures 200 degrees of the retina in a quarter of a second without dilation compared to 30-45 degrees with typical digital retinal camera-even with dilation.  Dilation, requires eye drops that enlarge the pupil, which blurs the vision for 4-6 hours.  The Optomap is less invasive and creates a permanent record which is invaluable for future comparisons and has the added advantage where it can be viewed by other doctors in the clinic and through telemedicine. It therefore provides the opportunity for you to view and discuss the optomap® image of youreye with your doctor at the time of your exam
