Our Eye Doctors

Dr. Terry D. Huseman graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. He has practiced here since 1987. Dr. Huseman is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Iowa Optometric Association. He is therapeutically certified to diagnose and treat eye diseases. Dr. Huseman is an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoys golfing as well. He and his wife, Donna, have two children, Allison and Jacob.

Dr. Lucas J. Bell graduated cum laude from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 2012.  Dr. Bell did two extenships emphasizing diagnosis in ocular patholgy and specific treatment management including the systemic involvement.     Dr. Bell is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Iowa Optometric Association. He is therapeutically certified to diagnose and treat eye diseases. Away from work, Dr. Bell enjoys golfing, biking, hiking and other activities. 

Dr. Kelly J. Soults graduated cum laude from the Univeristy of Missouri, St. Louis College of Optometry. She has practiced here since 2003. Dr. Soults is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Iowa Optometric Association. She is therapeutically certified to diagnose and treat eye diseases.

Dr. Allen J. Blume graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 1975. He is a former faculty member at the School of Optometry in the Medical Center at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He was also clinic director at the Jackson Eye Institute, a medical/surgical eye clinic in Jackson, Mississippi. He is currently a memeber of the American Optometric Association and the Iowa Optometric Association; he was IOA president in 1992-93. Dr. Blume practiced in Mason City and Fort Dodge during his tenure in Iowa and has been at our office since 2005. Interestingly, Dr. Huseman started his professional career working with Dr. Blume in Mason City.
 
Dr. Blume has been very active in medical education during his career and provided numerous lectures and clinical training programs throughout the US and Canada. He has also contributed multiple journal articles to optometric literature and was a contributing author in "Clinical Management of the Vision System", a textbook used in most optometry training programs.
 
Dr. Blume has always had a particular interest in glaucoma, retinal diseases and bifocal contact lenses. He and his wife live in West Des Moines and enjoy their children, grandchildren and sporting activities, particularly billiards and golf.

Dr. R. Todd Brown, a Colfax native, is a 1991 graduate of The Illinois  College of Optometry.  He has been practicing in the Cedar Rapids area for twenty years.  Dr. Brown is excited to return to the Des Moines area with his family and join Huseman EyeCare.  Dr. Brown primarily works at the Valley West office.  Dr. Brown is married to Marriane, a Des Moines native.  They have two teenagers, Rachel and Grant.  They are very involved in the kids activites including football, swimming and wrestling.
